Mother Mary
John 2:1-12
On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus' mother said to him, "They have no more wine."
"Dear woman, why do you involve me?" Jesus replied, "My time has not yet come." His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."
Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water"; so they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet."
They did so,and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, "Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now."
This, the first of his miraculous signs, Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee. He thus revealed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in him.
After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and brothers and his disciples. There they stayed for a few days.

On Thursday, February 11th 1858, Bernadette Soubirous, her sister Marie and another friend had gone to a nearby river to gather firewood. While Marie and her friend crossed the river to search the other side, Bernadette stayed on dry land. While searching for wood she heard a loud noise like the sound of a storm coming from a nearby grotto known as Massabielle. At the mouth of the grotto was a rosebush which was moving as if it were windy, which it was not. From the interior of the grotto she saw a golden-colored cloud, and soon after a Lady, young and beautiful who came and placed herself at the entrance of the opening above the rosebush. The Lady smiled at Bernadette and motioned for her to advance. Bernadette lost any fear she may have had and fell to her knees to pray the Rosary. After both she and the Lady completed these prayers (with the Lady only said the Lord's prayer and the Gloria), the Lady slowly withdrew to the interior of the grotto and disappeared. More...

In 1876 the Blessed Virgin appeared, only seven years after her apparition at Pontmain, France, to a sickly servant in Pellevoisin, France. Estelle Faguette, the visionary, was born in 1843. At the beginning of the year 1876, she lay dying at the age of 33 of pulmonary tuberculosis. She was also suffering peritonitis and an abdominal tumor. On 10 February, 1876, her doctor told her she had only a few hours to live. She then gave up. She was going to die & that was that.
But not if the Blessed Mother could help it.The first apparition of Mary occurred during the night of 14 February, 1876, Estelle was awakened to see the horrible black shape of a demon at the foot of her bed. Frightened, she screamed, but was astonished to see Our Lady standing next to her bed. Our Lady angrily asked the demon what he was doing there, & immediatly it left. Our Lady then lovingly looked upon Estelle and told her to fear nothing, for she was the Queen of Heaven. Our Lady then asked if she was willing to suffer for five more days in honor of Our Lord's five Holy Wounds. On Saturday, she would either be dead or cured. The next night, Estelle was once more awakened by the horrible demon, but Our Lady once again rebuked him. She spoke, saying," Be not afraid, for I am here. My Son is showing His mercy to you. He will let you live, and you will be cured on Saturday." More...
Pontmain
On January 17, Joseph and Eùgene (ages 10 and 12) were helping their father in a barn in France, then engaged in the Franco-Prussian War. Looking into the sky, a golden-crowned lady wearing a dark blue dress covered with stars appeared. The parents were unable to see anything but on faith suggested it might be the Blessed Virgin and prayers were offered. Later, two girls from a local school (Francoise Richer age 11 and Jeanne Marie LeBosse age 9) were brought and could also see the vision, while a growing crowd of sixty adults, who had begun to pray the Rosary at the suggest of the local priest, could not. A blue frame with four candles formed around the Virgin and a red cross appeared over her heart. She began to grow in size as the stars multiplied and became part of her dress. As various Marian devotions were recited, messages began to appear in the sky on a broad banner under the Virgin's feet. She smiled the entire time until a large red crucifix appeared before her. A white veil slowly rose as the crucifix vanished and the appartion ended. The War ended within weeks and the Basilica of Our Lady of Hope was built. More...
